Fiat Chrysler Recall For Cruise Control That Doesn't Shut Off

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has issued a recall for 4.8 million vehicles with a software defect that could prevent the cruise control from shutting off, affecting 2014 through 2018 models. When this happens, drivers will not be able to stop the vehicle by pressing the brake pedal normally. The current list of vehicles that could have the defect are:

2014 through 2018 Dodge Journey, Dodge Charger, Dodge Durango, Ram 2500, 3500, 4500 and 5500, Jeep Cherokee, Jeep Grand Cherokee and Chrysler 300

2015 through 2017 Chrysler 200

2014-2019 Ram 1500

2017-2018 Chrysler Pacifica

2018 Jeep Wrangler.

Owners of these vehicles should immediately stop using cruise control until the recall repairs are completed. FCA is to start notifying customers of the recall this week.

If you cannot disengage the cruise control on one of the listed vehicles, there are several actions you can take to stop the car. You can forcefully apply the brakes or shift the car into neutral and brake to a stop. Once the car is stopped, shifting into Park will shut off the cruise control.

For more information on the recall, go to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website at www.safercar.gov. You can enter your Vehicle Identification Number to get the latest information on recalls for your vehicle.

If you have had repeated problems with your car or it has been in the shop for 30 days or more for repairs, you may qualify for relief under lemon laws or breach of warranty laws. Contact Roseman Law Firm at 800-745-5259 or www.helpforlemoncars.com to learn more.
